Last week, members of the Rock on the Rock Club was pleased to receive a very special invitation for the lauch party of local lengend Giles Ramirez presenting his debut solo album titled "Ultimately". Once we reached the 8th floor of the Eliott Hotel it was clear that we will experience a wonderful night with the best company a musician can have......other musicians of course. Friendly faces everywhere and even though politics was in everyone's minds, it was music most of us could talk about. After a couple of drinks and tapas it was time to hear a taste of Mr Ramirez's album. The Hon. Edwin Reyes took the stage to say a couple of words wishing Giles all the best and introduced the singer songwriter. Giles thanked everyone for turning up and introduced his band members which was none other that Stephen McLaren, Adrian Pozo and Christian Hook. He begun his set with Killer World which was inspired by the difficulties the world is under, especially war. From the first note, everyone there sensed that this was a begining of a fantastic set. Song after song reached the souls of everyone present and we were all talking about Giles Voice and his ability to write excellent material. Personally the song that touched our hearts was track 8 of his album titiled "Mother". I could see some people with watery eyes and at the end of the song the cheers reflexed the appreciation of a song well writen and performed. Tomorrow you will be able to buy this album at local stores for just £10. An Album written from the heart containing 10 songs which Giles once left on a draw and after so many years he has decided to share them with us. As usual the Rock on the Rock Club recommended everyone to support local talents and buy this wonderful album worth every single penny of it. To the members,I urge you to keep supporting local music which is at this time at it`s best and let us continue to promote local talent which will hopefully be recognised very soon, the world over. Keep rocking my friends. Giles.
